We are excited to invite chapter proposals for an upcoming STP e-book: AI
as a Pedagogical Partner: Tools and Techniques for the Teaching of
Psychology
Edited by Jacob Francisco Miranda (California State University, East Bay),
Christina Costa (Wayne State University), and Lisa Rosen (Texas Woman’s
University)
About the Volume
Artificial intelligence is reshaping higher education, and psychology
educators are uniquely positioned to explore both its promise and its
pitfalls. This volume will provide practical strategies, ethical guidance,
and real-world examples of how AI can be thoughtfully integrated into
teaching, mentoring, assessment, and student support in psychology.
Our goal is to create a resource that:
– Showcases innovative ways educators are engaging with AI,
– Provides psychology-specific, ethically grounded guidance, and
– Equips faculty and instructors with tools to adapt teaching in a rapidly
evolving landscape.
We estimate this project to be approximately 15 chapters. In terms of
chapter length, we are planning on 2500 – 4500 words (3500 +/- 1000). The
word limit will exclude title/author, abstract, references, and contact
information. We will provide the authors with a template that includes
information format, structure, and word count.
Possible Chapter Topics (not exhaustive)
– Ethical considerations for AI in pedagogy
– AI-assisted course design and curriculum development
– Lecture and content preparation with AI tools
– Student engagement and interaction (e.g., AI simulations, chatbots)
– AI-assisted writing, feedback, and assessment practices
– Student support, equity, and accessibility in an AI-enabled classroom
– Teaching students about AI and its psychological/ethical implications
– Administrative and logistical uses of AI in teaching
– AI and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
We also welcome proposals that cut across these themes, highlight
inclusivity and equity, or bring unique perspectives from diverse
institutional contexts.
